Martha Tilston is a captivating and enchanting singer-songwriter who grew up surrounded by music, art, poetry and drama.

Her father is acclaimed musician Steve Tilston and step-mum the glorious London-Irish folk singer Maggie Boyle.

Hearing Jansch, McTell and Renbourn and Steve playing in the kitchen and learning traditional songs from Maggie helped form Martha's love of folk music.

Around 10 years ago, Keith James, singer/songwriter and acoustic music producer, began to perform Nick’s songs live.

His performances have received such unprecedented acclaim that, together with double bassist Rick Foot,he has now played almost 500 concert dates across 10 UK tours and recorded both a live and a studio album of Nick’s music.

Banjoist John spent his teenage years mixing styles such as bluegrass, jazz and classical to form his own unique sound, later joining keyboard player Jez Wing to form a duo ‘The Black Cat Theory’ who in 2000 won the ‘BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award’.

Andy Steele, a classically trained pianist and accomplished guitar player, also plays Cittern and Uilleann Pipes.

Massachusetts-based musician, Pamela Wyn Shannon's guitar work has been described as “a tiny chamber orchestra working in unison at the end of her hands.”

She has walked with the legends of British and Irish folk music, garnering respect and admiration wherever she goes.

Possessing a voice as sweet as a newly picked autumn apple and a finger-picking style to match, she also plays harmonium, banjo, dulcimer, psaltery and glockenspiel.

A Band Like Alice only play bluegrass music, mainly on the specialist British bluegrass circuit. They are regularly booked by all the major bluegrass festivals and clubs, but also play at arts centres, country music festivals & folk clubs.

They like the music of Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, the Stanley Brothers from 1940s and 50s, though their style is similar to the modern US bands.

A 5-piece band that combines different jazz styles and rhythms from funk to South American. Edgar is a fantastic Venezuelan pianist, a great exponent of Latin jazz, but firmly into modern jazz.

A truly great band you'd be daft to miss.

23rd Thursday 8.30pm - CARRIVICK SISTERS £9 adv £11 door carrivick.jpgTwins Laura and Charlotte Carrivick are from South Devon. They play a variety of bluegrass instruments (mainly guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro & fiddle) with vocal harmonies and are both songwriters. Although their background is in bluegrass, their music has a strong folk influence, evident in their original songs, many of which are inspired by their local landscape and stories.

Phil Cool - comedian and impressionist teams up with Ken Nicol - guitar virtuos of Steeleye Span to produce a 2-hour show full of music that both plucks at the heartstrings and tickles the funny bone.

The second half of the show sees Phil Cool showing off a host of musical impressions including his cruelly accurate Paul McCartney and a George W Bush who declares: “Osama bin Laden's fate can be summed up in just one word ...We’re gonna get him!”.
